Sarah's Sunday Drive

When I was a kid, we went to Grandma’s house every Sunday. On the way home, there were a few different routes we could take. To make things interesting, my dad would choose a different route each week and sometimes add a couple extra dirt roads for fun. We would pass through Amish country and farmlands, look at the fall foliage and Dad would inevitably point out at least 3 ponds that he swam in as a teenager. Sometimes, I just wanted to get home and sometimes I enjoyed the ride. I think it depended on how much my brother and I fought over the imaginary line separating the back seat! Once we fought so much that my mom made my dad stop the car about a mile from home and we had to get out and walk the rest of the way. We knew every week after that, she wasn’t making an empty threat!

I have come to love Sunday drives to slow down, see the sites and find new destinations. Over the next 4 weeks, I am going to take you on a Sunday drive to my local favorites. Don’t worry, we’ll stop for dinner!
